Membership Benefits
North Shore Village Network (NSV Network) offers its members a rich spectrum of activities, programs and events as well as many opportunities for engagement in our North Shore communities. In addition, NSV Network offers access to valued assistance and support services so that each member can lead an active, independent and healthy life while successfully navigating the transitions of growing older.
Because NSV Network is membership-led, programs reflect the interests and requests of our ever-growing and ever-changing membership. New members are encouraged to join in this collaborative effort.
Special Interest Groups
These groups are organized and led by members who share a special interest in an activity or topic, such as reading, travel, politics or art. Groups usually meet on a weekly or monthly basis, as desired. Here are some of our current special-interest groups:
- Current events (discussion)
- Memoir writing (essay-length)
- Climate Issues and Action
- Legacy Group, a writer's workshop
- Book clubs
- Short-stories (discussion)
- Tech tutorials
- And more!
Social/Educational Events
NSV Network members can connect and engage, discover, and learn and enjoy each other’s company through group activities and affinity groups. As a member-led organization, our program committee—working with staff—creates events and activities that reflect the shared interests and requests of our membership. Just a few of the topics presented over the last year:
- Selma: Midpoint in A Personal and Community Journey Towards Equality
- Elder Fraud
- Online Banking
- Chicago Theatre
- Voice Your Choice (Advance Directives)
Social gatherings include Thursday dinners at local restaurants, potluck dinners, and events such as the ice cream socials, a "Forest Immersion Experience," and other in—person activities (when not limited by public health constraints).
